A friend at work has an old Yamaha BWS, 49cc, which I asked to boot around on for a bit at the end of my shift, top speed flat was about 70, downhill 82 was tucked, and uphills and stuff around 50ish. I even managed to get it to do a nice "smokey" burnout.

First of all,

These things are a BLAST! I have a Ninja, and man I still had tonnnes of fun ripping around on these, if you get a chance try one. Last summer a bunch of friends and I ripped around on the ones from McScoots, good times.

Second,

He rides the back roads to get home, but, just curious if someone was to ride one on the highway, and say do 70 km/h on the 80 km/h highway, would someone receive a ticket? Or just middle fingers from angry drivers who have to pass him?

3:05am?

You can get a ticket for going to slow--I can't remember the exact number under the posted limit but the fine does exist.

get pirelli race tires and the 80cc kit. Should boost you up to 80kmh
I think certain freeways (like in Kamloops) say "must do 60kmh or use alternate route" so you should be fine.

I believe that they can give you a ticket for "Impeding the flow of traffic"

qball- I don't own one, but I sorta want to mod out a Ruckus (lowered seat, extend it, fat tire, etc)

I agree..
I've rented one of those scooters for a couple hours before with a couple buddies, mind you the ones we got topped out around 55km/h.
but still a hell of a time, try to get ones with a little tread on the tires and whack it through the bush too haha.

That's funny... buddy in shorts and fingerless gloves, going full tuck. That corner sure surprised him eh!? He's got the bike fully leaned over and he's leaning the other way. They body touches and lifts the rear wheel.

I can't believe the croc's stayed on while he planted his foot... idiot.

People set up camcorders every weekend in those corners, it's like fishing.. sad.
