Hello all, Im looking for some help planning my route.
I come to BC every year from SK and would like some help this year in picking the best, side roads. Im almost 40 and would like to open it up without all the RV's, traffic and police to deal with. We try not to attract too much attention when we ride so we open it up when the road is clear.
We will be in a group of 3(sportbikes), 2 experiances and one novice rider who knows not to try and keep up.
Looking at the map there are lots of side roads just west of Vernon/Kelowna area. But I cant tell road conditions on a map.
So any input would be great and I thank you in advance.
Shawn

i'd suggest...
creston - kootenay bay - kaslo - new denver - faquier - vernon to kelowna via westside road - penticton to keremeous via green mountain road - old hedley road to hedley - over to osoyoos - rock creek - creston...
if you're going further west there some more options but i'm not too familiar with
thats pretty much the trip i did through BC 5 years ago, moved here about 2 yrs later. haha

try to pick up Destination Highways map book for BC. Especially if you come every year, it will be a very good investment. Other than that, and what was stated above, tell us where you're thinking for what towns you plan to go through, and we can tell you the right way to get there.

Hey thanks for the replys.
We are heading in from Sk along Hwy 3. Heading towards Osoyoos. Doesnt matter what route we take or what towns we see. We are camping and like to get up and go, ride till we get tired. Some days have been 4 hours( backtracking to ride the road again) and some days have been 10 hours.
North out of Creston is on the list. That Green Mtn Road is now on the list.
33 north from Rock Creek is on the list.
Hoping to find some other gems to ride. Not looking to cause trouble with our riding but I would like to wear in the new knee sliders without traffic.
Thanks
Shawn

New Denver - Kaslo could be the best road in BC. Nelson is beautiful.
I haven't ridden Duffy Lake since the new pavement 2 or 3 years ago, but hear good things.
Fauquier Mushroom Addition Cafe is famous.
should probably note there was a tourist casualty last week on Green Mountain. I think this is the corner, but someone else may verify. maps.google.com/maps?f...5&t=h&z=16
The corner is marked, but there is an old wood bridge mid corner and people have the tendancy to target fixate on the rail or the creek. take it easy.

Please be careful if you've never been on Green Mountain road. There is a couple wooden bridges at the end of a decreasing radius corner, be off your bike and ready to stand the bike up quick for the bridge.

Do be careful on Green Mountain Rd. The road is excellent other than those corners that Ry mentioned. The bridges are narrow and have posts at either end.

Thanks for the info. We are now going in a group of 4, 2 of which are new riders. They have been told not to try and keep up.
I read about the death on Green Mtn and about the bridges. Sounds like things could get tricky so we will use extreme caution for sure.
The last thing I want is any one getting hurt, ever! Plus we are just visiting and dont want to piss anyone off with our riding.
I love to open it up but I believe in the "time and place" thing.
Looking forward to lunch now at the shroom addiction cafe.

Nine years of riding the SV without ever getting a ticket is a powerful argument for not exceeding the speed limit!

Having ridden with you I hink the proper way to say this would be, nine years of riding without a ticket is a powerful argument for not getting caught.
